Paul McCartney played a rare small club show at Pappy & Harriet's Pioneer town Palace between his first Desert Trip gig on October 8 and his second show on October 15.

The club has a 300 person capacity and is located near Joshua Tree in Southern California's Yucca Valley.

Thousands of fans showed up at the venue and waited in line in the hopes of scoring tickets to the surprise weeknight show.

McCartney ended up playing a 21-song set for the intimate audience.

McCartney's One on One tour will return to Desert Trip for a final weekend, October 14 - 16.

McCartney is expected to follow that up with a few days of rest before resuming work on his next album.

McCartney's most recent release, Pure McCartney, back in June, included material from his time with Wings as well as from his solo career.
