Gene Simmons discussed his thoughts on Bob Dylan winning a Nobel Prize.

The rock singer feels that Dylan's lyrics are of significant literary importance.

In an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Simmons said why he thought Dylan's lyrics stood out among other musicians.

Simmons commented, "Instead of wagging his finger into people's faces, it seems to me that those lyrics are more about self observing.

Observations on what he saw that was going on all around him. So, very few of the songs were about moon and June, and you broke my heart - like so many songs are. . . . Dylan never played by those rules."


The Swedish Academy awarded Dylan the Nobel Prize in Literature on Thursday (October 13).

The Academy said that the singer won the prize for "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition."
