One of the most anticipated concerts of the century is underway.

The Desert Trip show has potential for all sorts of surprises and so far it is not disappointing.

On the October 8 show Paul McCartney and Neil Young performed the Beatles classic, "A Day in the Life."

This is not the first time the two have played this song together.

Back in 2009 McCartney and Young played the song together at Young's Hyde Park concert.

The two later performed John Lennon's "Give Peace A Chance."

Near the conclusion of McCartney's set, Young also played the guitar solo for "Why Don't We Do It In the Road."

McCartney also performed "I Wanna Be Your Man," which was written by himself and Lennon for the Rolling Stones.

This may have been a nod to the Stones, who did their own rendition of the Beatles classic, "Come Together."
