Advice was given from a former Beatle to a former member of One Direction on going solo.

Paul McCartney gave Harry Styles advice on going it on his own.

The two men were arguably in the most popular bands of their era.

When you have garnered that much attention from being in a group it can be awkward going out on your own.

Styles said he was happy to escape the mania of One Direction.

He explained, "It's the bubble where things happen around you and it's not real life.

So when you come out of that it's nice to catch up with everything."

McCartney agreed with Styles saying, "It's a difficult one because being in the group you've got the strength of the union, but you've also got the disagreements."

McCartney advised Styles to "Be true to yourself, do what you think is right."
