Mick Jagger has dropped more hints regarding a new album.

One that would be a bluesy departure for the rock legends.


The Rolling Stones frontman tweeted a photo of a harmonica case and guitar picks used by the group.

The picture was captioned "Watch this space #playingtheblues"

Rumors have swirled since spring about the blues record. Keith Richards and Ron Wood commented over the spring about the album, along with producer Don Was who reported the Stones recording "covers of blues songs in Chicago.

It was recorded live in the studio in just three days, with the musicians in a circle around the microphones."

Was adds that there was "no retouching on the pieces," and revealed Eric Clapton joined in on the recording sessions, borrowing "one of Keith's guitars.

He started playing to songs. It was exceptional enough to see."

The album has not been given an official release date, but according to Was it will find its way onto shelves this December.

In the meantime the Stones can be heard at the Desert Trip festival this October.
