The guitarist of Journey doesn't believe a Steve Perry return to the rock group will add to their current success.

In an interview with Freep.com, Neal Schon doesn't believe bringing the group back to their classic era, will bring them success in the current era.

Fans of Journey have long speculated Perry's solo album and return to music in 2014 and hinted at his return to the group.

Schon says while he's open to a discussion about a Perry return, he doesn't believe it would bring in more money for the band.

The guitarist goes on to say that in spite of the hard work it took "to build it back up . . . We're here again. We're sitting there."

The last album released by Journey was Eclipse in 2007.

The group has also brought drummer Steve Smith into the fold in wake of legal issues with Deen Castronovo.

Journey is now wrapping up their latest tour in San Francisco, with Carlos Santana joining them at the AT&T Park show on September 4.
