David Bowie's son, film director Duncan Jones has revealed that his new baby boy is named after his grandfather.

Jones broke the news via Instagram and shared a hand-drawn cartoon while revealing that he will share the rock legend's name, Stenton David Jones.

"Stenton David Jones. Born July 10th, exactly six months after his grand dad made room for him.

Love you both so," Duncan wrote in the post.

The news comes at a busy time for the Bowie family, as David's musical Lazarus is now set to open in London.

The show is set for a four month run in London's King's Cross Theatre.

The opening night will take place October 25 and run through January 21.

The musical is based around Walter Tevis' novel, The Man Who Fell To Earth.

The book had a heavy influence on Bowie's early career.

The musical will feature three unreleased Bowie songs as well as a track from his final album, Blackstar.
