A handwritten letter from Paul McCartney to Prince recently sold for $14,822 at Boston's RR Auction.

The letter, which begins, "Dear Princely person," is a request for a donation to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, which McCartney cofounded in 1996.

The two-page letter is on plain unmarked stationary paper.

It is undated and contains McCartney's London address in the top right corner.

It is unconfirmed whether or not Prince made a donation.

The former Beatle also suggested Prince should come to the institute and "teach a class some moves!"

The letter concludes with McCartney's signature and a smiley face drawn at the bottom.
