The Boss has composed a contribution to a new audiobook.

Bruce Springsteen has written and narrated a foreword to Born On The Fourth Of July.

The novel by Ron Kovic was published in 1976. It was adapted into a Academy Award winning film starring Tom Cruise, and now, an audiobook which will be released July 4.

Springsteen is familiar with the novel, which centers around Kovic's experience in Vietnam and his struggles following the war.

The "Born To Run" rocker speaks in the foreword about his meeting Kovic and later, accompanying him to a California veteran's center.

Springsteen has also said inspiration for his Born In The U.S.A album came from Kovic's memoir.

The audiobook is being released to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the novel, and is currently available for pre-order on Audible.
