Former Elvis Presley guitarist Scotty Moore has died at the age of 84. Moore also managed Elvis' career during his early years.


The Memphis Commercial Appeal notes that he was at his home in Nashville at the time and that he'd been in bad health for a while.


Moore appeared on a number of Elvis' hits, including "Heartbreak Hotel," "Mystery Train," "Hound Dog," "Jailhouse Rock" and "Blue Suede Shoes."

Following his tenure with Presley, he worked as a producer and sound engineer, as well as continuing as a session musician.


Last October, he was too ill to attend his induction into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame, with Keith Richards accepting on his behalf.


Moore was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 in the sideman category.
