HBO has cancelled Vinyl, based on the music industry in 1970s New York, which was executive produced by Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese.

Even though the network had ordered a second season, they thought better of their choice and officially passed on new episodes of the show.

"After careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with a second season of Vinyl," HBO said in a statement.

"Obviously, this was not an easy decision.

We have enormous respect for the creative team and cast for their hard work and passion on this project."


The first season of the show received poor reviews and ratings.

Showrunner Terence Winter left the project in April, which saw replacement Scott Z.

Burns move things in a "new direction."
