Paul McCartney is mourning the death of former Wings guitarist Henry McCullough, who passed away at the age of 72.
McCullough's longtime agent Nigel Martyn told the reporters that he passed away after a long illness.
"I was very sad to hear that Henry McCullough, our great Wings guitarist, passed away today.
He was a pleasure to work with, a super-talented musician with a lovely sense of humor," McCartney said of his former bandmate in a post on his official website.
"The solo he played on "My Love" was a classic that he made up on the spot in front of the orchestra.
Our deepest sympathies from my family to his."
McCullough was with Wings from 1972-1973, appearing on only one studio album, Red Rose Speedway. He also released 11 solo albums throughout his career.
