The Beach Boys iconic album Pet Sounds has been annotated by Pitchfork in honor of its 50th anniversary.

Pitchfork.tv shared a "Liner Notes" documentary about the album that not only features music from the album, it also includes rare photos, behind-the-scenes snippets about the record's creation, Brian Wilson dialogue from recording sessions with the Wrecking Crew, and much more.

It features snippets of "God Only Knows" and "Wouldn't It Be Nice."

Pitchfork uncovered that Wilson initially intended to call the record "Run James Run" because he hoped it would feature on an upcoming James Bond film.

Pet Sounds, Beach Boys' 11th studio album, cracked the top ten on the Billboard 200 Albums chart upon its release in 1966 and also peaked at number two on the U.K. Top 40 Album Chart.

The album is widely regarded as the first ever concept album.
