The upcoming Desert Trip music festival has sold out entirely in three hours.

The fest will feature headlining sets by the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan and is set to take place over two weekends in October.

According to promoter AEG, 70,000 three-day tickets sold with 140,000 total tickets moving in the initial sales period.

The event, to take place in Indio, California, is aimed at an older and wealthier audience than the nearby Coachella, and profit estimates have already tipped $150 million.

"Figuring out how to fairly and accurately price an open field with the riskiest budget ever put together was a monumental challenge," writes Billboard's Ray Waddell.

"Given the rapid sellouts, it's safe to say that the producers nailed it."
