Aretha Franklin paid tribute to the late Prince by performing a cover of "Purple Rain" at the White House.

The performance came as Franklin took part in an all-star concert to celebrate International Jazz Day.

"He was definitely an original and a one-of-a-kind," Franklin has said of Prince.

"There was truly only one Prince. He put his stamp [on his sound]. There was a mystique about him that made you want to know a little more about him.

Kind of like Stevie Wonder he was one of those artists that loved to go into and stay in the studio."

Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park home in Minnesota. He was found collapsed in a lift at his home, which doubled as a studio. He was pronounced dead, and while an autopsy has been completed, no cause of death has yet been confirmed.
