Bruce Springsteen has offered up his own personal tribute to the recently departed Prince.

The Boss took on a cover of the Prince classic "Purple Rain" during a recent performance in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn over the weekend.

He offered up the cover to his audience simply adding "Prince forever, thank you."

The pair had a well documented respect for one another, and both enjoyed massive success in the 1980s.

"I admire the way he holds his audience - there's one man whose fans I could never take away," Prince told Rolling Stone in 1990.

He also recalled how, "at one point, his band started going off somewhere. Springsteen turned around and shot the band one terrifying look.

You know they got right back on it!"
