Paul Simon says that he approves the cover of his song "The Sound of Silence" by Disturbed. David Draiman and company played the song during an appearance on Conan, and Draiman later got an e-mail from Simon complimenting the band.

"Really powerful performance on Conan the other day. First time I'd seen you do it live. Nice. Thanks," read the e-mail, which Draiman posted on Facebook.

"Mr. Simon, I am honored beyond words," wrote Draiman in response. "

We only hoped to pay homage and honor to the brilliance of one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Your compliment means the world to me us and we are eternally grateful."

"The Sound of Silence" is currently the number one song on Billboard's Active Rock charts.

The tune is featured on the band's latest album - and its first in five years -Immortalized.
