Billy Joel's ongoing residency at Madison Square Garden will now continue through December, bringing his run there to have spanned three years.

Billy says, in an interview with Newsday, he's pleasantly surprised with how the monthly gigs at MSG have played out.

"I thought it would settle down and mellow out. That hasn't happened. It's gotten more exciting."

"I'm 66. I'm thinking maybe it's time to start slowing down. It's not happening," he added.

"The box office is bigger now than it ever was. This is not a bad problem to have. I'm having a blast. It's a re-energizing thing.

There's a lot more young people in the audience than there used to be. And they're making a lot of noise."

The December 17 show will be Joel's 36th show at MSG; he's sold out the previous 35 since beginning the series in January 2014.
