A selection of David Bowie vinyl reissues is set for Record Store Day. The two releases will include the single "TVC15" from the album Station to Station, as well as his classic track "The Man Who Sold the World," both released on collectible picture discs.
Despite the excitement over the new Bowie releases, a handful of independent labels and shops throughout the U.K. have begun objecting to Record Store Day's allegedly strict rules and regulations.
Several labels have claimed that the annual event is being slanted ever more towards as a tool for major labels.
Universal Music Group released their own statement about the allegations noting, "Until a few weeks ago it seemed everyone in the music industry thought Record Store Day, the eight-year-old celebration of the U.K.'s hundreds of indie music shops, was a great idea.
RSD has given the indie store sector, decimated over the last decade or so with the closure of over 500 shops, a new lease of life . . . But, then the naysayers arrived."
