Mike Love of the Beach Boys plans on releasing his autobiography, which he says will finally set the record straight, this fall.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Love says that he believes he's been made out to be a rock and roll villain.

"The fable is that I'm such an a-hole, but a lot of that stuff is skewed by the crazies," Love said.

"I never said half the s— that's attributed to me. I mean, I must be pretty prolific in a-hole-type things to say, like, I get up in the morning thinking, 'I've got a job to do. How can I be a total jerk today?'"

The book's release, via Blue Rider Press, is timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Good Vibrations.

"Love will share the story behind the group's unparalleled hit-making in the 1960s, including the music that celebrated the California lifestyle as well as the recording of Pet Sounds and other seminal albums," reads a presser for the book. "

He will talk about his own spiritual journey through transcendental meditation, his complex relationship with Brian Wilson, and the enduring appeal of the Beach Boy sound."
