Bruce Springsteen performed a cover of David Bowie's "Rebel, Rebel" during a The River 2016 concert stop at Pittsburgh's Consol Energy Center on Saturday.

In addition to playing his classic record The River in full, the Boss tacked on the cover of Bowie.

"Not very many people know this but he supported our music way, way in the very, very beginning.
1973," Bruce told the audience.

"He rang me up and I visited him in Philly while he was making the Young Americans record.

He covered my music, 'Hard to be a Saint in the City' . . . I took the Greyhound bus to Philadelphia, that's how early it was."

Springsteen was one of many musicians to offer remembrances of Bowie following his death last week.

"Always changing and ahead of the curve, he was an artist whose excellence you aspired to. He will be sorely missed," he wrote on Twitter.
