Don McLean was arrested at his home in Camden, Maine, following reports of a domestic disturbance.

McLean, according to police reports, was "arrested without incident" and released after posting bail of $10,000.

McLean is scheduled to appear in Knox County Unified Court in Rockland on February 22, according to the Wicasset newspaper.

In April 2015 CNN reported that McLean had sold the handwritten lyrics to his most famous hit, "American Pie," auctioning them for $1.2 million, marking the "third highest auction price for an American literary manuscript, a fitting tribute to one the foremost singer-songwriters of his generation," said a rep for the auction house Christie's.

"I have two children and a wife, and none of them seem to have the mercantile instinct," McLean remarked at the time.

"I want to get the best deal that I can for them. It's time."
