Elton John is the latest celeb to pay tribute to the late David Bowie.

The Rocket Man honored Bowie with a cover of "Space Oddity" during a concert at L.A.'s Wiltern Theater on Wednesday, January 13.

"The songs were very classical orientated," John told the audience. "I didn't know who I wanted to use.

Then I heard a record which blew me away. It's called 'Space Oddity.'"

After John heard the record he began working with "Space Oddity" producer Gus Dudgeon and arranger Paul Buckmaster, marking the beginning of a collaboration that would continue for years.

"I have David Bowie to thank for that amazing collaboration," he added.

John also played five cuts from his new album, Wonderful Crazy Night, and invited several guests on stage: Shawn Mendes ("Tiny Dancer"), Demi Lovato ("Don't Go Breaking My Heart"), and Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump ("Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting").
