Elvis Presley's Albums To Comprise 60-Disc New Box Set

Legacy Recordings is planning to celebrate the 81st birthday of Elvis Presley with the release of a 60-disc box set.

Due March 18, the set will also commemorate the 60th anny of the release of the King's debut album.

The set is comprised of 57 Elvis albums plus three discs of rarities from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.

In addition to his first RCA sessions in 1956 are 17 soundtrack titles and live albums, including On Stage(1970), Elvis As Recorded Live At Madison Square Garden (1972) and Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite (1973).

On the 1950s era rarities disc is featured the essential Sun Sessions (recorded prior to his signing with RCA, in Memphis during 1954 and 1955), along with his first RCA sessions recorded in 1954 and 1955.

The content of the 1960s and 1970s discs has not been revealed.

The set comes with a 300-page hardcover book with commentary by Elvis scholar John Jackson.
