Bob Dylan may have invented the phrase "can't even," one music writer has discovered after listening to the singer's recent 18 disc box set The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12.

Chris Willman, writing for Billboard, explains, "Dylan grows increasingly frustrated by how he feels the Hawks later the Band are mangling 'She's Your Lover Now.'

'Aw, it's ugly.' 'I can't. I can't even.' Did Bob Dylan just invent the 21st century catchphrase 'I can't even?' I think he did!"

Dylan would ultimately leave "She's Your Lover Now" off of his LP Blonde on Blonde, which he went on to record with Nashville studio musicians in 1966.
