Bruce Springsteen is set to return to the stage of Saturday Night Live.

Though initially suggested by "inside sources," The Boss officially made the announcement via Twitter.

"Mark your calendar . . . Bruce hits the @nbcsnl stage on December 14, hosted Tina Fey & Amy Poehler!" he tweeted out recently.

This upcoming performance will mark Springsteen's third tour of duty as an SNL performer, after visits on May 9, 1992, and December 5, 2002.

The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, a new box that offers a comprehensive look at Springsteen's studio work during the period leading up to the release of The River, as well as live footage from a widely bootlegged show on the tour and a new retrospective documentary, will be released on December 4.
