Secret Behind Michael Jackson's 'Smooth Criminal' Dance Move Revealed

The secret behind Michael Jackson's iconic dance move in his "Smooth Criminal" music video has finally been revealed.

The dance move, which saw Jackson and his backup dancers lean forward at a seemingly impossible 45 degree angle, was said to have been done with wires, but that was not the case.

According to reports, Jackson and his team created a special one-off shoe that featured an extending slot at the bottom of the heel.

The slots could then extend at any given time and connect to a peg in the stage, keeping the shoe secure as Michael leaned forwards - supporting his own body as he did it.

These special shoes were patented back in 1992 under the names of Michael Jackson and Dennis Tompkins.
