A petition signed by friends of the Rolling Stones Mick Jagger to play the lead role of Alex in A Clockwork Orange is on the auction block of Paddle8, with an estimated selling price of $18,000 to $25,000.

Signed by all four members of the Beatles, the petition was sent to screenwriter Terry Southern, who was in the process of adapting the book at the time.

Others to sign included Marianne Faithfull, Anita Pallenberg and French director Christian Marquand.

"We, the undersigned, do hereby protest with extreme vehemence as well as shattered illusions in you the preference of David Hemmings above Mick Jagger in the role of Alex in The Clockwork Orange," the letter reads.

The bidding for the item ends on October 29 at 1:00 PM EST.
