The estate of the late Michael Jackson is in talks with Sony to buy the King of Pop's catalog. Acording to sources Sony ATV will "either become 100 percent owner or divest."

Sony, worth an estimated $2 billion and owning the rights to some 750,000 songs, has maintained a 50-50 venture between Jackson since 1995.

"What happens after the process, when one of them owns the entire company, is unknown at this point”.

In 2007, an auditor said that Jacko's catalog was worth $390 million.

The reason for the collapse of the 50-50 venture "remain mysterious, though a problematic relationship between the partners is an oft-cited rumor."
