"Men In Black" producers are eyeing a potential revival of the franchise.

"We're in the middle of talks," producer Walter Parkes said when asked if he and fellow producer Laurie MacDonald were discussing a potential revival of "Men in Black" at Sony. "It's very active."

Parkes added that franchise star Will Smith would "most likely" not be involved, while MacDonald clarified that a new "Men in Black" would be "reinvented as a trilogy."

Sony had no comment on Parkes and MacDonald's remarks about a new "MIB."

The last "Men in Black" film was released back in 2012 and grossed $624 million globally, but failed to equal the takes of the first two films at the North American box office.

The original trilogy starred Smith alongside Tommy Lee Jones.
