Fuzzy sandals are all the rage: In recent years we’ve seen them on post-session surfers in Malibu and on runways in Milan, a bit woolly and wild-looking but always comfy. Here are our picks of the litter of shearling- and fur-lined shoes, just in time to ward off fall’s chill. Wear them with skirts, wide-leg trousers or your usual ho-hum khakis and see if you don’t feel like you’ve left the house in slippers.

1. PASTEL PRETTY

Pastel pink looks positively butch when it’s the color of Marni’s signature crisscross sandals, now done in shearling. This tough little look is begging for a lacy or gauzy maxi dress to go with it.

2. CUDDLY AND RUGGED

The classic hippie-dippie Birk slide brings all the glamour when lined with fuzzy-wuzzy shearling. Best of all, it molds to your footbed just like the non-shearling models do, so it’s doubly comfy.

3. EURO-STYLED AND OVER-THE-TOP

Shearling sandals are likely to have the approximate mass of a backpack, so they’re not going to read as a subtle look. Perhaps it’s best to just lean into the logo/name brand/prestige aspect when you’re splashing out on a European luxury brand.
