Anyone can be fashionable with these basic tips!

Know Your Body

In order to figure out what looks good on your body you need to know your body. You need to know your strong points as well as your weak ones. You also need the confidence to know that you are beautiful. Many of us are great at picking out the weaker points on our bodies but it sometimes takes a second party to help us understand what our strong points are. So go to your
best friend and ask them what they think.

When it comes to having confidence in our looks, too many of us are negative about them. It is important to focus on the good parts of our bodies and highlight those. That is not to say that we cannot work to change the parts of our bodies that we do not like, it is just important in fashion to look at what we have right now.

The two biggest keys to fashion are the fit and the cut of the clothing. In order to be successful in these categories you have to know your body well enough to know what you want to highlight.

Size It Up (or Down)

The second fashion tip is to get clothes that fit. This doesn't mean you should wear clothes that you can get on. Just because you can get something on does not mean that it fits. If you can get those pants on but can’t sit down, then they are obviously too small. At the same time if you put something on and it is falling off, or you can fit another person in it, then it is too big. You need to find clothes the fit well. You will be more comfortable and more confident when you have a correct fit.

Wearing clothes that are too big or too small can both make someone look heavier than they really are. It is amazing how much better people look when they wear clothes that fit them properly. Also, remember that wearing something that is too tight or too revealing does not make anyone sexy, just trashy.

For many of us it is hard to find something that fits well off the rack. Keep in mind that you can always get something altered even if it is off the rack. Also, more and more stores are offering sizes made for those who are shorter or taller, so it may take some work to find something that fits but it is not impossible.

Cut and Shape

The cut and shape of your clothes can make a huge difference in how you look in them. You want to make sure that the clothes you wear have the correct cut and shape for your body type. You want something that will flatter your strong points and hide or downplay the parts of your body you are not comfortable with.

For example, let’s say you are looking for a dress and you want to highlight your figure but also want to make your waist look smaller. You may, in this case, want to try on some v- neck dresses that have a belt or tie around the middle of the waist and maybe an a- line skirt. The belt at the middle of the waist with an a line skirt underneath makes the waist look smaller.

Lets say you have a tummy that is a little larger and you really want to hide it. They you want to find a cut that has a high waist, an empire waist on a shirt or dress for example. This will hide your mid-section and draw the eye up and away from it.

It is also a good idea to have someone with you who can give you their opinion. Sometimes we need an outside opinion or even just a second one to help us figure out what looks best on us.

Trendy is Not Always Best

When it comes to clothing trends, things change almost every minute. It is impossible to keep up with what is hot. However this is not necessarily a bad thing because the styles that are trendy are not always the best styles for us.

The fact is that the fashions that are in style at any given time are not going to look good on everyone. Again the items of clothing that are going to look best on you are those that have the correct cut and shape for your body type. This does not mean that trendy clothes will never flatter you; it just means they won’t all look good on you. Part of ensuring that clothes look right on you is to make sure they fit your style and personality.

Patterns and Accessories

You may think it is strange to place patterns and accessories under the same category but a pattern is most often an accessory when it comes to fashion so it is fitting to give the same tips for both. Remember to always make use of sensible and appropriate accessories so that You can wear the same outfit with different accessories and make it look completely new!
