The Spice Girls’ cultural legacy is well trod territory—whether one looks to their insanely catchy singles, infectious embrace of girl power, or distinct yet complementary senses of style, the group made an impact on music and fashion that is still being felt. But one element of their sartorial legacy seemed very niche: that über-high Buffalo platform shoe.

Aside from that brief moment in the ’90s, the wonderfully over-the-top silhouette looked like it was destined to remain on foggy underground dance floors rather than in the commercial mainstream market. But the iconic style has, against all odds, made a full-on comeback. Whether it’s pure ’90s nostalgia or the fact that other brands have released shoes that reference the classic (from Balenciaga’s Triple S sneaker to the Eytys Angel), Buffalos are having a moment in the spotlight yet again. And following recent collaborations with the likes of Opening CeremonyComme des Garçons, and Junya Watanabe, next week Buffalo London will relaunch the classic platform, which marks the first time it’s being sold in the United States.

The set of photos that Buffalo has shared alongside the relaunch announcement, which stars models Ruby Aldridge and Aleali May, recontextualizes the shoe for the modern era. Alexandra Preusche, the brand’s global marketing director, describes the shoe’s high-fashion potential: “Our brand was carried into the mainstream by a group of influencers—in the ’90s, it was the Spice Girls—so we loved the idea of re-creating this and bringing it into the spirit of today through some of the industry’s top influencers,” she says. “We are excited for the U.S. consumer to discover the brand on the feet of today’s fashion crowd.”

So if you’ve also spent the past few years scouring eBay or Etsy to find a pair of the towering shoes, you’re in luck. You can now officially purchase different styles of the classic shape via FarfetchLuisa Via Roma, and Opening Ceremony. Between March and July, Buffalo will drop up to four different special-edition styles each month, and they won’t be restocking them—so if you want to channel your favorite Spice Girl, you’d better act fast.
