The celebrity trend for midriff-exposing tees seems to be unstoppable, as Kendall Jenner’s inner circle has been sporting T-shirts that show off the not-so-technically termed “underboob” area. Said tops are cut short enough to reveal a slither of one’s perky cleavage if raising the arms slightly.

Of course, this type of precarious top is not a problem for Kendall, Gigi, Bella et al, because they are chauffeured between appointments. The models don’t have to worry about catching a cold, or carrying one-too-many bags that might throw the whole outfit off-kilter and cause a nipple slip, because their outfits have been planned for the short distance between apartment and taxi (aka prime real estate for lurking paparazzi).

When this trend filters down to ordinary people who view the models as fashion pin-ups, issues arise. Little Mix band member Perrie Edwards, for example, was photographed watching boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain play in the FA Community Shield at the weekend wearing a crop top. After revealing a little more cleavage than intended when jumping up to cheer, the pop star had to hold down her top for the rest of the match.

And while we whole-heartedly agree that a woman should wear whatever makes her feel confident and empowered, it’s the impracticality of wearing an itsy-bitsy top that makes the celebrity trend more unrealistic than saving for one of Kendall Jenner’s Louis Vuitton bags.
