10 MASCARA HACKS THAT WILL ROCK YOUR WORLD!

There are tons of makeup hacks popping up every day authored by both experts and lay people to make applying makeup easier.

They show how to make applying makeup look even better and cost less money, and even help to avoid common pitfalls.

However, I’ve noticed that there are not very many mascara hacks floating around, and although I feel like an old hat at applying mascara now, that wasn’t always the case.

In fact, when I first started wearing mascara I was a train wreck.

I wore too much, applied it unevenly and somehow managed to get it under my eyes every single day.

Because of my past experience with mascara I really appreciate these 10 MASCARA HACKS THAT WILL ROCK YOUR WORLD.

They definitely made an impact in mine!

1. MAKE SURE YOUR MASCARA IS FRESH

I know that may sound weird (since mascara isn’t food for goodness sakes), and it may seem like you just bought it, but chances are, your mascara needs to be replaced.

Mascara only lasts 2-4 months once it’s been opened and used for the first time.

So, if your mascara is nearing its expiration date, it will tend to be drier and yield results that you won’t like.

2. LAYER YOUR MASCARA TO MAKE IT LAST LONGER

First use your regular mascara, and then add a coat of waterproof mascara.

This combination will make your mascara last longer than just regular mascara and easier to remove than a few layers of waterproof mascara.

3. ADD SALINE TO DRY MASCARA

If you don’t have time to run to the store to replace your mascara, try adding a few drops of saline solution to your mascara if it is starting to dry out.

Then, use the mascara wand to mix the drops in. Saline solution is what people who wear contacts use to rinse their lenses and it’s sterile, which makes it an acceptable option for using in your mascara since it’s applied to your eyes.

If you don’t have saline solution, I guess you’ll have to run to the store for new mascara, or buy it online. (smiling)

4. IT'S ALL IN HOW YOU HOLD THE BRUSH

Hold your mascara brush horizontally and wiggle it back and forth for voluminous lashes.

Holding your brush vertically and applying mascara using smooth strokes will give you a more natural look.

5. BABY POWDER ADDS VOLUME TO YOUR LASHES

Apply baby powder to the tips of your lashes with a clean makeup brush before applying mascara for fuller lashes.

The baby powder sticks to your lashes and adds volume.

6. APPLY MASCARA WHILE CURLING THEM FOR STUBBORN LASHES

If your lashes just don’t like to curl, try applying your mascara to your lashes while they are in the lash curler.

This will help secure the curl and make it last longer.

You can also try heating up your lash curler before you apply it to your lashes by heating it with a hair dryer for a few seconds.

7. BEND YOUR WAND INTO AN L-SHAPE FOR EASIER APPLICATION

Bend your wand into an L-shape (so that the brush is perpendicular to the handle).

It makes application easier on the top and bottom lashes, especially harder to reach lashes like the lashes at the corners of your eyes.

Don’t worry, the wand will still fit in the mascara tube.

8. BLINK TO APPLY YOUR MASCARA

Rather than move the mascara wand over your lashes, hold it on your lashes and blink.

Do this several times. This will insure that the mascara hits every lash.

9. BRUSH YOUR LASHES AFTER APPLYING MASCARA

Brush your lashes after applying mascara. Be sure to only use a new toothbrush or lash brush that is specifically set aside for this purpose.

Brushing your lashes will take out clumps and make them look longer and more beautiful!

10. APPLY MASCARA TO HAIR TO HIDE GRAY'S

Apply mascara to the roots of your hair in a pinch to cover grays.

That is, if your mascara color matches your hair color….
