1. Tilt your chin up, and look down slightly. Then trace the lid from inner to outer corner, staying as close to the lash line as possible. When you reach the outer corner, extend the line about one-quarter to one-half inch toward the outer edge of your brow.

2. Repeat, this time tracing a fresh line directly above the first. For an even more dramatic effect, repeat a third time.

Keep your face relaxed. While you might be tempted to pull the skin around your eye taut, stretching the skin while you apply liner will result in a weird-looking, jagged line.

Support your arm. Turns out, you don't need a steady hand to avoid eyeliner disasters. Just place your elbow on a table while you apply it.
