Eyebrows: The One Thing You Can Get in Shape Without Exercising

If you’ve never been obsessed with eyebrows, it’s either because you naturally have a great pair, or you’ve never experienced the horror of walking out of a salon with mismatched, over-threaded brows that make you want to cry the second you get home.

While some people are born with perfectly-shaped, enviably full brows, the rest of us have to put in the work. And if you're anything like me, one of the first things you notice about someone’s face is their eyebrows. They have the power to change your entire look—fixing minor flaws like close-set or wide-set eyes. Honestly, well-groomed brows are one of the greatest gifts in the beauty world. They’re even an underrated anti-aging secret.

Sure, they serve a practical purpose too—helping redirect sweat, rain, and dirt away from your eyes. The outward growth of eyebrow hairs is no coincidence; it’s there to guide moisture to the sides of your face instead of letting it drip into your eyes. Mother Nature really knew what she was doing.

Let’s get real—unless you're Gal Gadot, your face isn’t symmetrical. And when your eyebrows aren’t balanced, it can throw off your whole look. One eye might suddenly seem larger or higher than the other. But with well-shaped, symmetrical brows? You instantly look more polished and put together. The right shape can frame your eyes beautifully, while the wrong one can make you look tired, older, or constantly annoyed.

You can’t change your face shape, but you can shape your brows to suit it. A longer face? Try flatter brows to visually shorten it. Brows are basically your face’s contouring shortcut—they bring focus to your best features and can even distract from areas you’re not as confident about.

Now, if you don’t maintain them, your brows can start looking wild and unruly. But get them groomed right, and even without a scrap of makeup, you'll look effortlessly refined. Clean brows = clean look.

My eyebrows are far from perfect—but hey, at least they’re better than Christina Aguilera’s in the early 2000s. Here are a few things I live by in my never-ending quest for brow greatness:

1. Stick to one beautician. Always.

Take risks with your haircut or pedicure if you must, but never your eyebrows. Find someone who knows your face and understands your brow game—then don’t stray.

2. Grow them out with oils.

Want thicker brows? Warm up some olive oil and gently massage it in from the bridge of your nose outwards. No olive oil? Coconut oil will do just fine—apply it before bed and wash off in the morning.

3. Don’t skip the Aloe Vera.

Aloe Vera contains aloenin, which promotes hair growth. Use it daily to help your brows grow thicker and stronger over time. Plus, it's super soothing.

4. Hydrate like a queen.

Drinking 8–10 glasses of water a day helps your body flush out toxins and supports overall hair health—including those precious brows.

5. Brush daily.

Get yourself a little brow brush. After moisturizing your face, brush your eyebrows to stimulate blood flow and encourage growth. Think of it like your brow workout—minus the sweating.

6. Eat for your brows.

If you’re mostly plant-based like me, focus on foods rich in biotin to support hair growth. Avocados, peanuts, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, bananas, and broccoli are your brow-friendly BFFs.

BONUS TIP:

Ditch the highlighter—go for concealer instead. Use one that’s a shade lighter than your skin tone to subtly brighten under your brows for a natural, lifted look.

So go ahead—shape those brows like the masterpiece they are. After all, they’re the only thing you can consistently get in shape without breaking a sweat.
