Super Berry Oatmeal With Warm Vanilla Milk

Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 cups milk or almond milk
- 1 tablespoon butter optional
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries raspberries and strawberries
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
- A pinch of cinnamon
- Optional crushed nuts almonds pecans or walnuts
Instructions
- Add milk and butter to a pot and warm on medium heat until steam rises.
- Stir in vanilla and cinnamon so the milk becomes fragrant and slightly sweet.
- Pour in oats and reduce heat to low. Cook slowly for 8 to 10 minutes stirring every minute to create a thick creamy texture.
- When oats are soft add honey and mix well.
- Pour the warm oatmeal into a deep bowl.
- Add berries on top. If frozen the heat of the oatmeal will soften them and make a berry sauce.
- Sprinkle chia seeds and crushed nuts over everything for crunch and fiber.
- Let sit for 1 minute so the flavors blend.
Extra Tips
- Add a spoon of Greek yogurt on top for extra protein.
- For thicker oatmeal add less milk. For creamier oatmeal add more milk.
- Frozen berries make the oatmeal sweeter when they melt.
