Super Berry Oatmeal With Warm Vanilla Milk

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups milk or almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries raspberries and strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • Optional crushed nuts almonds pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Add milk and butter to a pot and warm on medium heat until steam rises.
  2. Stir in vanilla and cinnamon so the milk becomes fragrant and slightly sweet.
  3. Pour in oats and reduce heat to low. Cook slowly for 8 to 10 minutes stirring every minute to create a thick creamy texture.
  4. When oats are soft add honey and mix well.
  5. Pour the warm oatmeal into a deep bowl.
  6. Add berries on top. If frozen the heat of the oatmeal will soften them and make a berry sauce.
  7. Sprinkle chia seeds and crushed nuts over everything for crunch and fiber.
  8. Let sit for 1 minute so the flavors blend.

Extra Tips

  • Add a spoon of Greek yogurt on top for extra protein.
  • For thicker oatmeal add less milk. For creamier oatmeal add more milk.
  • Frozen berries make the oatmeal sweeter when they melt.
