Korean-style bulgogi beef

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, sliced thinly
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine (mirin)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 onion, sliced thinly
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Optional: sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice wine, garlic, ginger, and black pepper.
  2. Add the sliced beef to the bowl and stir to coat evenly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavour.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion and julienned carrot and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
  4. Add the marinated beef to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
