With today's fast pace and the fact that most people who provide any type of service have more work than they can handle, good service may be considered a rare treat. When you have a positive experience, make sure you let the server knowhow much you appreciate the extra attention.


How Good Service Makes a Difference

Maybe you just had a business lunch at one of your favorite restaurants, and the employees went out of their way to take care of you and your clients.

The hostess seated you right away, handed menus to everyone, and took time to answer questions about the daily specials. The server approached your table with a smile, greeted everyone, and made sure your order was perfect.

Or perhaps you spent the afternoon at a spa, and now you feel more relaxed than you can ever remember. The aesthetician made your face look 10 years younger, and the massage therapist found every single knot in your muscles.

These acts of good service should be acknowledged. It's also nice to let their supervisor know how much you appreciate what the person did for you.


Don't Forget to Tip

Always bring enough cash to tip well. Many service people rely on tips to make a living, and when they provide good service, they should receive a little extra for their effort. If you forget to get cash in advance, let the person taking payment know that you want to add the gratuity to your credit or debit card.


Send a Written Note

Take the time to find out the name of the supervisor or head of the department where the service person works to make it more personal, and don't forget to sign your name. It is also a good idea to provide your contact information in case the recipient of the note needs to ask more questions.

When you receive excellent service from spa, hair salon, massage salon, resort, catering, or other employees, it is always a nice gesture to send a thank you note. If possible, mention names and something specific that the people did for you.
